INTRODUCTION TO FIGURE SKATING (IFS)
IFS is a group program designed for those skaters who wish to enter into the STARSkate/CompetitiveSkate stream. Skaters must be able to demonstrate basic forward and backwards skating skills. Skating skills will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please email email@example.com to set-up a try-out or for more information.
This program is lead by a NCCP Professional Coach and was created to help skaters transition between CanSkate to figure skating. The session format is as follows:
|Activity||Length of Time||Information|
|Group Lesson||45 minutes||This group session develops upon the basic skating skills taught in Canskate while teaching the basic jumps, spins, turns and steps that make up the sport of figure skating.|
|Group Stroking Lesson||15 minutes||This group session is combined with the Starskaters and develops speed, edges, turns, creative expression and flexibility.|
|Group Off-Ice Lesson||30 minutes||This group session is combined with the Starskaters and develops strength, flexibility, stamina and jump/spin technique. Topics such as goal setting are also covered.|
