INTRODUCTION TO FIGURE SKATING (IFS)

IFS (Introduction to Figure Skating or formerly Group STARSkate) is a group program designed for those skaters who wish to enter into the STARSkate stream. This is a 1 hour program for skaters ages 7 to 13 years. Must have passed Stage 4 of the CanSkate program and no prelimenary tests. This program is lead by a NCCP Professional Coach and was created to help skaters transition between CanSkate to STARSkate program. Skaters start with a group warm up and then move into 45 minute lesson time which they will be introduced to dance patterns, skating skills, spins & jumps.

The last 15 minutes of each session will provide the skaters the opportunity to learn to practice on their own. The Coach will have time to give additional help to each of the skaters with any skills they may be struggling with. The focus is to teach the specific skills to figure skating with the overall goal of developing a strong set of basic skills needed for future success.
