Federation CanSkate Programs

Master Schedule 2018-2019

Pre-CanSkate:

This 30-minute program is lead by NCCP Professional Coaches and trained Program Assistants for skaters ages 3 & 4 years. The skaters MUST be 3 years by the first lesson. No previous skating experience is required.

All skaters will be grouped by their ability and previously passed levels. Each group will have a 9:1 ratio. Low ratios ensures all skaters will learn the skating skills in a fun, interactive, and high-energy way. It also provides extra time for those that need a little more help from the Coaches or Program Assistants.

Once the skaters have master the skills of the Pre-CanSkate program they will be ready to move into the CanSkate program.

CanSkate:

This is a 45-minute program for skaters ages 5 to 13 years who want to learn the fundamental skills needed to skate, play hockey, figure skating and other ice sports. This program is lead by NCCP Professional Coaches and trained Program Assistants. No previous skating experience is required.

All skaters will be grouped by their ability and previously passed levels in a 10:1 ratio. Skaters will learn the balance, control and agility skills of each of the 6 stages in a high energy and interactive manner. Each lesson will start with a large group warm-up before the skaters break off into their small groups. Regular attendance is very important as all of the skills are taught each week will build into the following lessons.

Once skaters have mastered the skills of Stage 4 of the CanSkate program they can be invited into our Introduction to Figure Skating (IFS) Program.

 

Adult CanSkate:

This is a 45 minute program for skater’s ages 14 years & up. No previous experience required. This program is led by NCCP Professional Coach. This is an open group session. Skaters maybe broke up into smaller groups based on ability. This is a recreational program that skaters learn balance, control and agility skills spread out over 6 stages.
