Adult Intro to Figure Skating
Intro-to-Figure Skating (IFS) is a group program designed for skaters who wish to enter into the sport of figure skating. Skaters are taught the basic figure skating skills, including edges, turns, jumps and spins, in a group lesson format.
The Adult IFS group is a separate program and is guaranteed to have a coach dedicated to this program.
Lead by a NCCP Professional Coaches. This fun and upbeat class acts as a transition program between the Canskate and STARSkate programs.
Skaters can expect action, movement and fun, both on and off the ice! Lessons are taught in a group format with a coach-to-student ratio of a maximum 1:10. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches makes sessions active using teaching aids, upbeat music and a wide variety of activities that create a motivation environment and promote learning.
Skaters must demonstrate good forwards one foot glides and backwards skating before entering this program. To book an assessment, please contact us.
Once skaters have successfully demonstrated the skills in this program, they may join the STARSkate program and select a coach.
The typical session format is as follows:
Activity | Length of Time | Information |
Group Lesson | 45 minutes | This group session develops upon the basic skating skills taught in Canskate while teaching the basic jumps, spins, turns and steps that make up the sport of figure skating. |
