PreCanSkate

Master Schedule

This Learn-to-Skate program is designed for young skaters ages 3-5 with little to no previous skating experience. Skaters learn the basic skating skills, such as standing up, moving forwards, jumping and marching on the spot. These skills are taught using on-ice aids and games in order to keep skating interesting and fun!

Why Sign up for PreCanSkate?

What will your child learn?

PreCanSkate is divided into 3 stages that set-up the skater for success in the CanSkate program. These skills begin with standing up and walking forward and progress into moving backwards and skating around the area. Once these 3 stages are completed, skaters can move into the CanSkate program. Coaches will assess when your child is ready to move onto the CanSkate program.

What can you expect?

Action, movement and fun! Lessons are given in a group format with a coach-to-student ratio of a maximum 1:8. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, upbeat music and a wide variety of activities that create a motivational environment and promote learning. Ribbons and other incentives are used to benchmark skaters' progress and reward effort and participation.

What do you need to participate?

All your child needs are skates, a CSA-approved hockey helmet, long pants, mittens, warm sweater or jacket.

*We recommend purchasing skates with laces and avoiding skates that are molded plastic. These plastic skates can inhibit skating performance.
